Groundhogs Day

Do you know what a ground hog likes to eat?
Burrow-itos! Ha, Ha, Ha.
So that is what we will be eating for dinner-Burritos. So excited for the cute holiday this week! Thursday, February 2nd is Groundhogs Day. I always get online with my kids to watch Punxsutawney Phil come out of his burrow and find out if he sees his shadow or if it will be an early spring.
Enjoy and keep your fingers crossed for an early Spring!

Couldn't throw a Groundhog Day party without the help of my mommy friends...

And my sister and mom (mom is hiding somewhere)!

Preschool Letter for the day "R"

I home school my twin preschoolers and today we learned about the letter "R". Here is our Robot lunch that we made. I can't take credit for the idea. I got it off Pinterest.

Chinese New Year

So Monday was Chinese New Year, just another excuse to celebrate and do something fun with the kids. I decided to make chinese lanterns with the twins as centerpieces for our dinner later that night. We ordered chinese take out, lit the lanterns, and I had printed each member of the families chinese zodiac signs so we could read them. Everyone wore red because that chases away bad luck. It actually brought good luck to Hadley because she was not thrilled about the chicken lo mein and ham fried rice until I found a shrimp in the box. Hadley was thrilled that she got a bonus shrimp and that she has such great luck!

Lunch with Allie

I had a free meal at Cafe Rio, which is always exciting, so I decided to check Allie out of school for lunch. Thanks to my friend Allison, who took my twins last minute, Allie and I were able to have an uninterrupted conversation, which is rare around our house. We were thrilled with the syrup options for the soda machine! Vanilla Coke was our favorite. Isn't Allie Beautiful?

Martin Luther King Day

I recorded a video of each of the kids explaining their dream, but I don't know why it isn't showing as a video. Jack's dream is for people to be happy.

Ella's dream is for people to share with each other.

Hadley's dream is that people will be giving.

Jack and cousin Boston make Black and white cookies.

I love taking the opportunity to teach my kids to love and accept everyone and I think Martin Luther King is a great example and great day to have a special discussion on standing up for what is right and for what you believe in.

What is the secret to a family that seems so happy together?

... in a time lacking in truth and certainty and filled with anguish and despair, no woman should be shamefaced in attempting to give back to the world, through her work, a portion of its lost heart. -Louise Bogan
I hope to make every day, not just the holidays, happy and memorable by creating rituals and celebrations that bring joy to my family and that knit us closer together in love.
